Senior Backend Engineer

Company: Bluesentry
Location: USA
Published: 2025-10-16

Senior Backend EngineerLocation: Remote (Outside the U.S.)
Type: Contract

As a Senior Backend Engineer at BSC Analytics, you’ll be part of a high-performing team of four to five engineers tackling complex platform challenges for large-scale enterprises. If you thrive on learning, moving fast, and solving real-world problems across a mix of environments — both modern and legacy — this role is for you.

Every week brings new opportunities to sharpen your technical skills, collaborate with top engineers, and grow your reputation as a trusted expert. You’ll work on platforms that power mission-critical systems — all within a flexible, remote-first culture that values deep expertise, autonomy, and continuous learning.

About the RoleWe’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with a passion for building scalable, resilient systems that drive AI-powered innovation. You’ll be a key contributor to our backend architecture — designing APIs, scaling distributed systems, and collaborating closely with AI and product teams to bring cutting-edge ideas to production.

This isn’t a role for someone who just wants to maintain the status quo. At BSC Analytics, we move quickly, think boldly, and take ownership from concept to launch. You’ll join a culture that celebrates curiosity, encourages experimentation, and values engineers who balance technical excellence with a sense of humor and humility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs to support AI/ML-powered applications.
  • Collaborate with AI/ML teams to productionize models, ensuring performance, security, and reliability.
  • Implement best practices for security, performance, and scalability across backend systems.
  • Build robust observability — monitoring, logging, and alerting — for deployed applications.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (frontend, product management, DevOps, ML engineers) to deliver high-quality features on time.
  • Stay on top of emerging technologies and advocate for smart adoption that keeps us ahead of the curve.

Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseRequired Skills & Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional backend development experience, with at least 3+ years using Python and Node.js.
  • Deep understanding of API design (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure/AWS (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Solid understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL), caching strategies, and data modeling.
  • Familiarity with the AI/ML lifecycle — from model training to deployment and monitoring.
  • Strong background in software engineering best practices (CI/CD, code reviews, automated testing, Git workflows).
  • Experience with asynchronous programming and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with an emphasis on scalability, reliability, and performance optimization.
  • Clear communicator and natural mentor — someone who elevates the team and drives technical strategy.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face) or MLOps tools (MLflow, Kubeflow, SageMaker).
  • Experience in data engineering — building large-scale data ingestion and processing pipelines.
  • Background in startup or high-growth environments, especially in delivering AI-powered products.

Why You’ll Love Working Here
At BSC Analytics, we don’t just ship code — we ship impact. You’ll join a team that values deep technical curiosity, open collaboration, and a strong sense of ownership. We believe in doing work that’s challenging, meaningful, and occasionally a little weird — in the best way.

You’ll get the trust to run with ideas, the support to grow your skills, and the camaraderie of teammates who genuinely love what they do.

Benefits
  • Fully remote work environment
  • Competitive company benefits
  • Competitive compensation
  • Fun company events
  • Learning opportunities and support
  • Work life balance/flexible time off

We value team members who can articulate the "why" behind technical decisions and who approach software development as a craft that creates business value.

  • Design and implement scalable, maintainable application architectures across the full technology stack
  • Develop robust backend services and APIs using Go and Python with a focus on performance and security
  • Create responsive, intuitive frontend interfaces using React and TypeScript following modern best practices

Our Values
  • We Touch Reality - Customers and their stories are not foreign. We actively seek out engagement with them, whether calling them on the phone, meeting through conferences, or listening to interactions with product/sales.
  • They Win, We Win - Above all else, no other metric matters more to measuring our performance as an Engineering organization than Customers succeeding through our product. We build for them, not ourselves.
  • Bias for Action - When you see a problem you can solve, fix it. We don't wait for someone else to tell you it's your job, we seize the initiative. For major architectural changes, features, or anything that affects other teams' work, we give people a heads up but don't wait for consensus to start exploring solutions.
  • Shared Ownership - We all own the outcomes, not just our individual pieces. When something breaks, we focus on fixing the system together rather than finding who's at fault. Mistakes are inevitable, how we handle them as a team defines us.
  • Transparency First - We emphasize keeping engineering discussions and topics in the public forum, not tucked away in DMs or private channels. Those spaces are specifically for conversations that cannot be had elsewhere.

Since 2006, we’ve been building game-changing products that tackle HR and IT’s biggest challenges.

Workleap operates two distinct product lines:

  • The Workleap Platform, an AI-powered HR solution designed to drive team performance and boost employee engagement.
  • ShareGate, the leading Microsoft 365 migration and governance solution, trusted by IT professionals worldwide for its unmatched simplicity.

We’re builders at heart, with a clear purpose: to craft the simplest products that deliver exceptional value for our customers. Period.

Job Description

So, what will your new role look like?

As a Senior Product Designer at Workleap, you’ll partner closely with a product manager and tech lead in a tight-knit trio to shape the product vision, influence the roadmap, and define, ship, and iterate high-impact features, fast. This is a strategic and executional role where you’ll be expected to lead with initiative, simplify complexity, and move with urgency.

You thrive in ambiguity, make clear decisions with imperfect data, and bring strong customer instincts to every product conversation. You don’t just “use” AI, you design with it. You’ll be joining a fast-moving, remote-first team that values curiosity, ownership, and intentional collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end design process in a cross-functional team;
  • Translate ambiguous problems into intuitive, valuable user experiences;
  • Design flows, interfaces, and interactions that balance craft and speed;
  • Contribute to design system quality and evolution;
  • Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and other stakeholders to shape strategy;
  • Prototype and test ideas quickly to learn and iterate;
  • Advocate relentlessly for users and drive alignment around their needs;
  • Design with AI as a core material, not just a feature.

A typical week?

A typical week as a Senior Product Designer blends strategic thinking, hands-on design, and close collaboration with your product trio (PM, Eng, Design). You’ll spend time:

  • Shaping product ideas and collaborating on strategy during weekly trio planning or syncs
  • Translating customer insights and product opportunities into user flows, wireframes, and prototypes
  • Collaborating with engineers to scope features and ensure design quality through development
  • Sharing early concepts and in-progress work to gather feedback from peers and stakeholders
  • Reviewing product metrics, feedback, and user behaviors to inform decisions and improve features
  • Participating in design critiques, async feedback threads, or jam sessions with other designers
  • Documenting decisions and presenting your work clearly, both in meetings and async updates

We move quickly, so you’ll have a high degree of ownership, balanced by intentional support, thoughtful process, and a collaborative team environment.

What does your future team look like?

You’ll be part of a growing, multidisciplinary product team where designers are strategic partners from day one. We care deeply about user outcomes, design quality, and cross-functional collaboration. We move quickly, give and receive feedback openly, and help each other grow.

What are the next challenges awaiting your team?

We’re shaping new AI-native experiences and need designers who can think beyond screens, people who treat AI as a creative constraint, not a gimmick. We’re also investing in our design system and scaling our product across more teams and markets.

  Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience designing SaaS products in cross-functional teams;
  • Strong user instincts, especially in ambiguous problem spaces;
  • Skilled across the design spectrum: strategy, flows, UI, polish;
  • Comfortable balancing speed and craft in a high-velocity environment;
  • Experience designing or working with AI-powered features is a plus;
  • Excellent communicator;
  • Strong attention to detail and execution quality.
Who we are

We’re a team of curious minds and bold builders, brought together by a shared drive to make work simpler - and better - for everyone. Challenges fuel our creativity, fast-paced environments keep us sharp, and pushing boundaries is just part of how we operate. We believe the best ideas come from experimentation, rapid learning, and even the occasional discomfort - that’s where growth happens.

We move quickly, we learn constantly, and we always keep our customers at the center of what we do. If you're a proactive thinker who takes ownership, loves to collaborate, and isn’t afraid to leap into the unknown - you’ll fit right in.
