About the Job

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Engineering to lead the Location Platform engineering team within the Location Experiences organization at Life360. This role is pivotal in shaping Life360’s core location technology, foundational to our member experience. You will directly influence strategic technical decisions, drive innovation, and ensure our platform remains a market leader, delivering unparalleled value to families worldwide. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders, aligning engineering initiatives with overarching product and organizational objectives. As a key leader, you will guide the platform's evolution, driving improvements that empower families around the world to stay connected, safe, and informed.

For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $213,500 to $313,500 USD. For candidates based out of Canada, the salary range for this position is $250,500 to $294,500 CAD. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary- therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. What You’ll Do
  • Lead and develop engineering teams, coaching and mentoring managers and senior engineers to foster a collaborative, high-performance environment.

What We’re Looking For

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles (Senior Manager, Director, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated success in leading engineering teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments, particularly in platform development and infrastructure management.
  • Expertise in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), mobile development (iOS, Android), and familiarity with real-time systems or location-based technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

A bit about the team and what you'll deliver...

The Solution Engineering Team is responsible for the integration/implementation of Trustonic products into partner/customers commercial products, SoC or mobile devices.  Trustonic products include Trustonic Secured Platform™ and Telecom Platform™. JOB DUTIES:                       Evaluates business requirements to identify potential software, hardware, and system architectures.  Assess the organization's system integration requirements and develop strategies to address them. Understand data governance and data quality standards to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Develop a system integration architecture to support the organization's system integration needs using agile processes. Determine the appropriate hardware and software components required to support the architecture. Coordinate with management, designers and programmers in the IT department, to ensure the solution approach meets the needs of the organization. Work with application owners and users to understand their systems integration needs, including data quality, security, and access requirements. Ensure compliance with data governance policies, including data security, data privacy, and data retention policies, while designing and implementing system integration solutions. Provide architectural guidance and technical service to the plan/build/run application teams, as well as guidance and collaboration supporting the environment. Develop technical standards and best practices for system integration to ensure consistency and maintainability. Develop and maintain documentation on system integration processes, procedures, and standards. Evaluate and recommend alternate solutions in key technology areas along with working cooperatively with technical personnel in other divisions and functions to accomplish enterprise-wide goals and proactively address significant business issues through technological innovation. Stay up-to-date with emerging data integration technologies and trends. Participate in data governance activities to ensure data integration solutions comply with data management policies, standards, and regulations. Conduct data quality assessments to ensure data integrated from different sources meets quality requirements. Develop data quality metrics and ensure data quality issues are identified and addressed. May be assigned to manage technical components of large projects. 

 

  

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related field, plus seven (7) years of experience must be as IT Solution Architect, Data Engineer, Data Architect, Programming Analyst, Software Engineer. 

    

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The experience must include: 1) Five years of experience as an SSIS and T-SQL developer. 2) Demonstrated ability to derive and translate data designs from business concepts using statistical analysis and data visualization. 3) Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. 4) Five years of experience with Stored Procedures and Performance Tuning. 5) Five years of experience with ETL frameworks and architectural concepts and XML integrations/transformations. 6) Experience integrating with IBM MQ. 7) Five years of experience documenting development while providing knowledge transfer to Support teams. 8) Five years of experience with BizTalk messaging, ESB application, .NET, and C#. 9) Five years of experience with Tableau, Azure PAAS, SQL, Logic Apps, Data Factory, and Data Bricks. 10) Five years of experience with data stores (ODS), data at rest, and unstructured data. 11) Five years of experience in performance tuning, scheduling, and batching in support of IBM MQ as a source/destination.

The Project

You’ll be contributing to My Storage Navigator, a mobile app that mirrors the functionality of an existing web application used for managing self-storage operations. Your first task will be refining the Login flow and then expanding to build additional UI screens, handle API integrations, and ensure user data is handled securely and efficiently.

Project Timeline & Hours

This contract will run from July through September 2025, with the following estimated workload:

  • July: ~40 hours
  • August: ~40 hours
  • September: ~10 hours

This is a remote, part-time contract with an estimated commitment of 90 hours total.

As a Part-Time Contract Flutter Developer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and refining mobile UI components and workflows using Flutter/Dart
  • Integrating securely with existing backend APIs
  • Translating complex web functionality into native mobile patterns
  • Collaborating with the project manager and client for scoping and estimating
  • Writing maintainable, well-tested code
  • Surfacing risks or blockers early and often

Our ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience and senior-level understanding of most of the following (items in bold are required for the position):

  • Mobile development
  • Flutter and Dart (or React Native if discussed)
  • Integrating REST APIs and handling asynchronous data
  • Mobile authentication flows
  • Mobile-first responsive design
  • Clear communication in a remote, async-first environment
Availability and Location

The ideal contractor is comfortable working remotely within 1-2 hours of EST timezone.
