As we continue to revolutionize how the world interacts, we’re acquiring new skills and experiences that make work feel truly rewarding. Your career at Twilio is in your hands. We use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help make our hiring process efficient. That said, every hiring decision is made by real Twilions!
.See yourself at Twilio
Join the team as Twilio’s next Principal Engineer.
About the job
The Compliance Experiences team sits at the heart of the Twilio platform, owning two critical domains: Phone Numbers and Compliance (KYC).
In 2026, "getting a phone number" is no longer a simple API call; it requires sophisticated orchestration across global phone number inventory, real-time identity verification, regulatory compliance, and operational tooling at massive scale.
Twilio’s KYC Platform, the gateway to accessing all of Twilio’s communication APIs, enables customers to securely provision and operate communication services globally while navigating complex, constantly evolving regulatory requirements.
As a Principal Engineer (P5), you will own the technical strategy for a platform that processes millions of requests. You will be expected to pioneer AI-driven development workflows using LLMs and agentic agents to accelerate code generation, automate architectural reviews, and synthesize complex global telecommunications regulations into executable logic. Your mission is to collapse the distance between a great idea and a production ready feature.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
DRAW THE OWL: Lead the architecture and long-term technical roadmap, transitioning legacy systems into a modern, distributed microservices architecture that supports global scale.
ACCELERATE WITH AI: Lead by example in using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Anthropic Claude, or internal LLMs) to automate boilerplate, generate exhaustive test suites, and perform rapid prototyping. You will be measured on your ability to amplify your own output and the team's velocity through AI augmentation.
BE AN OWNER: Drive technical excellence across multiple teams, making critical architectural decisions that balance rapid feature innovation with world-class reliability and security.
WEAR THE CUSTOMER’S SHOES: Partner with Product Managers to translate complex global telecommunications regulations and customer needs into elegant, developer-first APIs and application workflows.
EMPOWER OTHERS: Mentor and uplift senior and staff engineers. Foster a culture of technical curiosity, ownership, and continuous learning. Teach the team how to move from "writing code" to "reviewing and orchestrating AI-generated logic" without sacrificing security or quality.
RUTHLESSLY PRIORITIZE: Identify and mitigate technical risks early, ranging from scalability bottlenecks to security vulnerabilities and lead the team through complex production incidents with a focus on long-term remediation.
WRITE IT DOWN: Communicate complex technical strategies to both executive leadership and engineering teams through high-quality design documents, RFCs, and presentations.
Qualifications
Twilio values diverse experiences from all kinds of industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

AI-Native Workflow: Demonstrated experience using AI tools to significantly accelerate software delivery. You should be comfortable discussing how you use LLMs for architectural brainstorming, debugging, and code synthesis.
API Excellence: A track record of building and maintaining high-volume public-facing APIs that focus on exceptional developer experience.
Data Savvy: Experience with high-throughput data processing and storage solutions (SQL/NoSQL, Redis, Kafka, or Spark).
Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern CI/CD paradigms.
Leadership: Proven ability to influence technical strategy across multiple teams and organizational boundaries without direct authority.
Desired:
Telecom Domain Expertise: Experience with telephony protocols, local number porting (LNP), or global regulatory compliance frameworks.
Platform Thinking: Experience building "internal platforms" that enable other developer teams to move faster.

Who we are
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
The Link team builds the premier consumer network for next-generation commerce, leveraging our base of 300M+ registered consumers to pioneer the future of Identity, Consumer Finance, and AI-driven transactions. While our foundation was built on high-conversion merchant payments and a flexible digital wallet, we are expanding far beyond. We are building the infrastructure for a world where AI agents transact on your behalf, stablecoins go mainstream, and identity dictates how money moves.
We think of Link as the wallet for the internet — and we're building for what's next.
What you’ll do
You will build the Link App experience across web and native — building the wallet product consumers need to feel confident, excited, and inspired by the new ways payments and identity are changing online.
That means being a true champion of the consumer: end-to-end owner of core features, a cross-functional partner to Engineering, Design, and GTM, and an active voice in shaping Link's consumer strategy alongside Link leadership. You'll define, build, and scale new and existing products — informed by consumer insights and data.
We're looking for a technical PM who operates with a high degree of autonomy and drive. You care deeply about craft and impact — the only thing that really matters to you is getting well-built products into users' hands. You're probably already exploring how AI is changing how products get built and what it means for the PM role; you might even have a few half-finished side projects that prove it.
Responsibilities
Own the consumer perspective — spend time with users, partner closely with Engineering, GTM, and Operations, and synthesize feedback and market signals into clear product direction
Be the voice of the Link consumer, both within the team and across Stripe
Define and drive an ambitious roadmap, from expanding core capabilities to leading nascent initiatives through to maturity
Establish team pace, clear prioritization, and rigorous execution standards
Partner deeply with Engineering, Design, Data Science, Marketing, Sales, and Operations to ship cohesive, frictionless experiences
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
8+ years in a product or technical role, with experience shipping world-class consumer products at scale
High taste, design empathy, and sharp judgment — can put yourself in the shoes of consumers and be a steward of crafting great experiences
Rigorous with data — comfortable digging into metrics, writing SQL when needed, and thinking from first principles to deliver the right results
Desire for continuous product improvement; able to optimize for shipping a portfolio of small, medium, and large releases
Ownership mindset — works on whatever it takes to solve problems and delight consumers
Strong written and verbal communication, with a talent for distilling user problems into precise, actionable framing
Experience managing high-stakes external partnerships — aligning on milestones and executing integrations end-to-end
Thrives with a high level of autonomy and responsibility
Preferred qualifications
Experience working on consumer financial products
Experience building brand new products or working in a startup environment
Experience working with GTM teams to bring a new product to market
