Coinbase: Forward Deployed Engineer, Compliance [Office of the CTO]
Company: Location: Remote Published: 2026-08-07
Headquarters: Remote - USA
Ready to do the most impactful work of your career? At Coinbase, we are uncompromising on our mission to increase economic freedom. The bar is high, the environment is intense, and we like it that way. This isn't a place for complacency, it’s a place to be pushed past your perceived limits. If you're ready to build the future of finance alongside people who refuse to settle for "good enough," you belong here. Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Expect to get together quarterly for intense in-person working sessions called “surges.” learn more about working at Coinbase.Coinbase's Compliance organization manages regulatory obligations across products, operations, and growth — spanning transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory change management, and exam readiness across 60+ global entities. This role sits directly inside the Office of the CTO, embedded as a founding engineer within Compliance. You'll identify high-value workflow opportunities, rapidly prototype solutions using Coinbase's existing AI platform, and drive measurable adoption of AI tooling across the Compliance org. You'll be the connective tissue between Compliance stakeholders and the engineering teams who maintain Coinbase's AI platform, acting as advocate, translator, and builder in one.
What you'll do:
Embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to surface the automation opportunities with the greatest business leverage — developing ground-level understanding of workflows like transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory change management, and exam preparation.
Prototype quickly and pragmatically using Coinbase's existing AI platform as the default foundation before recommending net-new builds.
Own the Compliance automation roadmap in partnership with the Chief Compliance Officer and Compliance leadership, translating complex regulatory workflows — case resolution, trade surveillance, risk assessment, policy management — into engineering requirements and engineering constraints back to stakeholders clearly.
Define the build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling, evaluating what Coinbase should build internally, adopt from partner teams, procure from vendors, or retire.
Ensure every automated compliance output is traceable, reviewable, and defensible to regulators — with auditability, approval gates, evidence retention, and human-in-the-loop controls as first-class design concerns, not afterthoughts.
Drive adoption through brown-bags, prototype walkthroughs, and feedback loops that bring Compliance teams along on the journey and ensure tools actually get used.
Required Skills and Experience:
5+ years of software engineering experience with a demonstrated ability to ship production systems in ambiguous, stakeholder-heavy environments, with greenfield experience a strong plus.
Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications, including prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, hallucination guardrails, and human-in-the-loop design for high-stakes compliance outputs.
Proven ability to embed with non-technical domain experts, rapidly internalize complex workflows, and translate them into engineering requirements.
Familiarity with compliance and regulatory systems concepts: transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory filing workflows, case management, and audit-ready data handling.
Familiarity with multi-agent orchestration concepts including how agent systems handle handoffs, escalation, and auditability.
Experience in a Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or embedded technical advisory capacity, ideally in compliance-tech, RegTech, or financial services environments.
Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Descript: Engineering Manager, Agent
Company: Location: Remote Published: 2026-08-07
Headquarters: San Francisco, CA or Remote, US
About the Role
Descript is revolutionizing how traditional editing methodologies and AI technologies come together in every part of the creation process (recording, transcribing, editing, and sharing) to make it faster and easier than ever to create high quality content.
We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead our Agent team, focused on building the world’s best Agentic Video Editor, Underlord. This is a rapidly changing landscape, and there are many unique technical challenges that come with building high quality, cost-effective Agents for handling the multimodal nature of video. You will manage a team of 5-6 software engineers, report to the VP of Engineering and partner closely with others across engineering, product, design, and AI research teams.
Agent-driven editing is a major company focus and this role requires strong product thinking and strategic partnership skills as the team continues to develop novel, high-quality experiences around Agentic Video Editing.
About the team:
Descript's Agent Underlord launched in July 2025. Since then, we've been working on improving the user experience for chat-based editing, adding more capabilities into our agent, and improving our agent infrastructure to continue to scale as models get better and better. The Agent team partners very closely with our AI Research team, in order to achieve our mission to make video editing accessible to anyone. Your management peers and direct reports will be based in San Francisco, New York, and distributed across the US and Canada.
This is the role for you if you are excited about driving progress in the following areas:
Building a best-in-class product experience for agentic video editing interactions (eg. tuning prompt templates and other key user workflows, addressing user feedback, building key product capabilities like chat history, etc)
Setting the standard as a player-coach who builds with the team and defines how AI-native development drives rapid prototyping, fast execution, and high software quality
Driving rapid, data-driven experimentation to push the limits on quality for the video editing agent (eg. model/routing experimentation, pricing experimentation, core agent investments around harness and tool design and token optimizations, etc)
Deepening the Agent Quality flywheel to better prioritize our roadmap by leveraging user data and signals to strengthen Evals and product analysis methodologies
Partnering with AI Research on roadmap for exploratory Agent improvements (eg. novel context management strategies, RL/new model development, multimodel explorations, etc)
What you'll do:
Your primary focus in 2026 will be driving innovation, feature development, and improvements to the agent. In this role, you will:
Own execution: Manage team prioritizes, drive alignment across stakeholders, adapt plans to maximize outcomes, and hold a high bar for delivery through active planning, prioritization, and follow-through
Define team direction: Connect customer needs, product vision, and technical realities in close collaboration with Product, Design, and AI Research by setting clear priorities and making tradeoffs to deliver results
Develop your team: Mentor, and grow engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance. Create stretch opportunities for ICs, deliver clear and direct feedback, and manage underperformance early
Drive operational excellence: Ensure execution is predictable, reliable, and sustainable, implementing best practices in project management and engineering processes
Maintain the technical bar: Guide architectural decisions, ensure sound design tradeoffs, address tech debt that slows execution, and drive delivery of high-quality, reliable systems
What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications
Engineering Leadership Experience: 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years of engineering management experience delivering complex, cross-functional product work with high velocity and quality
Team Builder: Excels at hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineering talent, and creating collaborative, empowering, and high-performing team environments
Technical Judgment: Strong technical background with the ability to guide architectural decisions, evaluate tradeoffs, and maintain engineering excellence without being hands-on day-to-day
Effective Communicator: Communicates clearly and effectively across technical and non-technical audiences, and thrives in collaborative environments working closely with Product, Design, and Research partners
Strategic Thinker: Plans ahead on a 12+ month horizon, but prioritizes and re-prioritizes aggressively as new information emerges. Makes and communicates calculated bets.
Adaptable and Resilient: Thrives in fast-paced, rapidly changing environments, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results. AI moves very quickly and keeping pace with the market means you are already behind. High ownership and a bias toward action is a must.
Extra Credit!
Experience building agents, developing evals, or leading teams building LLM-powered products
Experience building creative tools in the past or you're a frequent user of creative media tools. If you join Descript, you'll end up making lots of videos!

Descript: Content Strategist
Company: Location: Remote Published: 2026-08-07
Headquarters: San Francisco, CA or Remote, US
About the Role
Content is one of Descript's most powerful channels—but only when it's strategic, original, and built to reach the right audiences. Up to this point, our content program has been focused on generating awareness amongst individual creators and small businesses. As we move upmarket, we need someone who is deeply experienced with content creation as an integral part of a brand-building, demand-generating machine.
We're looking for a Content Strategist to build the engine: a system rooted in subject matter expertise and user data that produces compelling content across formats, optimizes for AI discovery, and supports both brand and demand. Being a great writer is the baseline, and this person knows what great content looks and sounds like. We believe original, human-developed content is a genuine differentiator when it’s backed by strategy and data. You'll bring both the vision and the do-er energy to make it real.
What You'll Do
Strategy & Planning
Define Descript's content strategy, editorial calendar, and channel prioritization
Identify content gaps and opportunities through user data, search research, and market insight
Build a measurement framework that connects content activity to brand and pipeline outcomes
Content Systems & Production
Build an AI-native content production system that enables quality output at scale without sacrificing originality
Produce and/or commission content across formats: articles, research reports, data studies, interactive tools, video scripts, and more
Optimize for AI discovery as the content and search landscape evolves
Demand Enablement
Partner with Demand Gen, PMM, and Field Marketing to develop assets that support pipeline programs
Assist with mid- and bottom-funnel content (case studies, ROI calculators, competitive guides) that converts interest into action
Brand & Voice
Help define and evolve Descript's editorial voice across content channels
Develop a subject matter expertise content program, drawing on Descript employees and customers as sources
What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of content strategy, content marketing, or social media experience in a B2B or B2B/B2C hybrid environment
Deep familiarity with the new media landscape and how content distribution has evolved
Comfortable with AI tooling as a production and workflow aid
Analytical experience: you can build and own a content measurement framework
Portfolio showing strategic content work—evidence of content systems and measurable outcomes, not just production volume
Preferred Qualifications
Experience at a PLG or product-led company
Background in media, creative tools, or video/audio adjacent categories
Experience building content programs that optimize for AI discovery
Success In This Role
Within your first 12 months, you will:
Deliver a documented content strategy with channel prioritization, audience segmentation, and measurement framework
Launch an AI-native content engine with defined production workflows, tooling, and editorial standards
Ship a flagship demand-enabling asset (e.g., original research report or interactive tool)
Show measurable improvement in content's contribution to brand reach and pipeline
The base salary range for this role is $130,000 - $165,000. Final offer amounts will carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, location, level, and may vary from the amount above.About Descript
