Customer.io: Director, Engineering

Company:
Location: Remote
Published: 2026-07-30

Headquarters: Americas Remote Hi, I'm Paul, VP of Engineering at Customer.io. I'm looking for an experienced engineering leader to own several of Customer.io's product development engineering teams. This is a role for someone whose primary job is business impact: you set clear goals, hold teams accountable to schedules, and personally drive complex initiatives to done. Your first mandate is a high-priority, executive-visible platform initiative — the kind of project where you'll set the direction, align the org, and carry it across the finish line yourself. If you're energized by making things happen inside an organization — not just managing the people who do — this role is for you. About Customer.io Over 9,000 companies — from scrappy startups to global brands — use our platform to send billions of emails, push notifications, in-app messages, and SMS every day. Customer.io powers automated communication that people actually want to receive. We help teams send smarter, more relevant messages using real-time behavioral data. Under the hood: Go, React and AI help us ship fast and scale with confidence. What We Value Execution above allLeading a team and driving impact are not the same job — yours is the second one, and the team is how you do it. You set direction, create accountability, and see initiatives through across an organization. When something must ship, you put it on your back. Engineering leaders who go deep and wideYou operate at the strategic level and stay close to the technical work. You can align executives on a roadmap and earn an engineering team's respect in the same day. You still read the code, join the incident channel, and know why the thing is late. You don't choose between vision and execution — you hold both. A healthy skepticism for "the way things are done"You bring rigor and pragmatism. Best practices matter — but never more than forward motion. You know when to build, when to buy, and when to wait. An AI-first engineering mindsetAI is central to how you build and how you lead your team to build. You've developed a real point of view on AI-native development, you can speak to it concretely, and you bring it into how your org operates. What You'll Do Own the vision, roadmap, and execution for major platform initiatives — starting with the delivery of our new billing platform, a high-visibility integration program spanning Engineering, Product, and Finance Set clear goals and delivery milestones, hold teams accountable to them, and communicate progress crisply to executive stakeholders Make build-vs-buy and sequencing decisions with conviction, and lead the team through them Mentor and develop engineering managers and senior technical leaders — with the bar that everyone on the team can articulate the impact they're driving Drive a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across the org Leverage AI tools to accelerate team velocity and bring an AI-native perspective to how the team builds What We're Looking For 12+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time leading engineering teams Experience managing engineering managers and/or senior technical leaders A track record of driving complex, cross-functional initiatives to completion — you've taken something ambiguous and org-spanning and personally made it ship Deep understanding of SaaS software architecture, cloud-native infrastructure, and the tradeoffs that come with building in-house vs. buying and integrating Ability to translate technical complexity into clear strategy and communicate effectively with both engineers and executives Demonstrated AI-native leadership — not just personal fluency, but a track record of bringing AI-first development practices into how your team works Comfort operating in ambiguity and making difficult tradeoffs between competing priorities You can articulate, specifically, what you made happen in your last role that wouldn't have happened without you Bonus points for: Experience in the domains of self-service and growth, audience segmentation, or customer data platforms (CDPs) Exposure to billing, subscriptions, or monetization systems — useful context for your first mandate, not a requirement Experience at high-growth SaaS companies; you have delivered results at a startup Track record of shipping in high-velocity product orgs where your domain was treated as a first-class engineering concern Compensation & Benefits We believe in transparency. Starting salary for this role is $230,000-$270,000 USD (or equivalent in local currency) depending on experience and subject to market rate adjustment. We know our people are what make us great, and we're committed to taking great care of them. Our inclusive benefits package supports your well-being and growth, including 100% coverage of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and supplemental insurance premiums for you and your family. We also offer 16 weeks paid parental leave, unlimited PTO, stipends for remote work and wellness, a professional development budget, and more. See full benefits here → Our Process No gotchas, no trick questions - just a clear, human process designed to help both of us make an informed decision. Application - We review everyone with care. Customer.io: Customer Success Manager, EMEA

Company:
Location: Remote
Published: 2026-07-30

Headquarters: EMEA Remote About Customer.io Over 9,000 companies — from scrappy startups to global brands — use our platform to send billions of emails, push notifications, in-app messages, and SMS every day. Customer.io powers automated communication that people actually want to receive. We help teams send smarter, more relevant messages using real-time behavioral data. About the role Hi, my name is Kasia Santana, Manager of Customer Success at Customer.io, and I'm looking for a Customer Success Manager to join our Mid-Market, EMEA team. You'll own the success of a dedicated portfolio of roughly 50-60 Mid-Market customers — acting as their strategic advisor from onboarding through long-term adoption, and driving commercial outcomes across your book of business. You'll partner closely with Account Management, Technical Support, Product, Solutions, and Engineering to help customers realize real value throughout their lifecycle. We don't need you to be a marketing expert or a deeply technical one. We need someone who's an expert at asking the right questions — someone who digs until they find the real problem, not just the reported one, and who can influence a customer to make progress and move through blockers. You'll be curious and eager to understand our app well enough to take a customer's use case and turn our features into outcomes that matter to them. What we value Curiosity about the business behind the customer: You're genuinely interested in how companies operate and enjoy learning your customers' industries and goals. You ask about the why behind a request before recommending a solution. Trusted advisor, not ticket-taker: You build relationships that turn you into a strategic partner rather than someone who simply answers questions. You have well-formed opinions about customer experience and aren't shy about sharing them. Ownership of commercial outcomes: You see CS as a value and growth engine. You take ownership of outcomes across your book and naturally look for opportunities to create more value, partnering with AM on retention and expansion. Comfort in ambiguity: You thrive on complex, open-ended customer challenges — bringing together business context, technical understanding, and creativity to solve them. You're calm under pressure, highly organized, and able to juggle competing priorities across a full portfolio. AI-forward thinking: You're comfortable using AI tools to improve your own productivity and your customers' outcomes, and you bring a growth mindset toward experimenting with new AI-powered ways of working. What you'll do Manage a dedicated portfolio of ~50-60 Mid-Market customers as their strategic partner across the full customer lifecycle Lead onboarding — running kickoffs and milestone check-ins, and guiding customers to their first measurable outcomes Build a deep understanding of each customer's goals and translate them into measurable, mutual success plans Provide proactive, consultative guidance through regular strategic touchpoints and value-driven conversations Monitor customer health, spot adoption trends, and address risks before they impact success Partner with Account Management to support retention and expansion, and coordinate with Technical Support, Product, Solutions, and Engineering when deeper expertise is needed Own escalations end to end — from identification through resolution — keeping customers informed and confident throughout Advocate for your customers internally by sharing product feedback and influencing improvements to the customer experience Drive AI adoption across your portfolio — coaching customers on AI-powered solutions and modeling what AI-native Customer Success looks like Contribute to the broader CS organization by sharing best practices, improving playbooks, and participating in webinars and enablement initiatives What we're looking for 2+ years as a Customer Success Manager for technical products, in a SaaS environment Experience communicating with software developers in a technical capacity Opinionated about customer experience — you should have well-formed views in order to give customers strategic advice Fluency in French, Russian, and/or Spanish (we are prioritizing multilingual candidates for this role) Located in the United Kingdom or Ireland Bonus: experience designing lifecycle messages Compensation & Benefits We believe in transparency. The salary for this role is $80,000 USD (or equivalent in local currency) depending on experience and subject to market rate adjustment. Customer.io recognizes the stifling impact of systemic injustice on diverse communities. We commit to using our influence to increase inclusion and equity within the tech industry. We strive to build an inclusive team culture, implement bias-free hiring practices, and develop community partnerships to expand our global impact. Zoom is the only video conference platform that we use, virtual interviews will be conducted using the video capability (i.e., not via the chat), and offers will be extended in writing on official Customer.io letterhead. The Creative Strategist serves as the connective tissue between data and production: the person who identifies what’s converting, understands why, and translates those insights into briefs that move metrics. This is a highly cross-functional role sitting at the intersection of performance marketing, brand, and content. You’ll work closely with the Performance Marketing Manager and partner with Maven’s brand team, creators, and external agencies to build a rigorous, always-on creative testing engine. As targeting advantages continue to erode and AI reshapes how creative is produced and distributed, this role becomes increasingly critical—differentiation now comes from strategy and message quality, not asset volume alone. This is a remote role open to candidates based in the United States, with a strong preference for those in San Francisco. As a Creative Strategist, you will: Own the creative strategy for paid acquisition, developing and maintaining a weekly and monthly brief cadence across Meta, TikTok, and other paid channels; treat brief quality as the highest-leverage part of the job Translate performance data into creative direction by analyzing what’s working across hook rate, hold rate, CTR, and CVR, and turning those learnings into actionable briefs Own creative from brief through execution, working directly with designers, editors, and AI platforms to bring concepts to life Write platform-native UGC scripts and collaborate with creators, talent, and editors to ensure authenticity, narrative clarity, and optimized calls to action Use AI creative tools (video generation, copy iteration, image tools) to generate and test ad variants at speed, increasing creative velocity and expanding test coverage Develop a systematic approach to creative testing: hypotheses, angles, hooks, and structured experiments focused on acquisition efficiency and conversion Maintain consistent creative volume to support scaling paid budgets, owning the operational layer (asset library, naming conventions, agency handoffs) that enables speed and scale Build and maintain a competitive creative intelligence practice, staying current on what’s working in the market, particularly in health and wellness Own UGC and influencer creative strategy, including frameworks for sourcing, briefing, scripting, and testing creator content as a performance channel Ensure all creative output meets healthcare advertising guidelines and platform policies We're looking for you to bring: 4–6 years of experience in creative strategy, performance marketing, or growth, with meaningful time in consumer health, wellness, or DTC subscription businesses A hybrid creative and performance mindset: you understand what makes creative convert—not just what looks good—and can diagnose whether an issue is rooted in hook rate or hold rate Proven track record of writing briefs and UGC scripts that have moved metrics; strong POV on direct response formats, hooks, and what earns trust in a health context Hands-on experience with AI creative tools (video generation, copy iteration, synthetic testing), actively using them to move faster and expand testing capacity Fluency in key performance metrics (hook rate, hold rate, CTR, CVR, CPA, LTV:CAC) and experience using data to drive creative decisions Experience owning the full UGC pipeline: sourcing, scripting, briefing, and testing creator content at scale Comfortable owning both the strategic and operational sides of creative production; you build process where none exists and keep velocity high The base salary range for this role is $145,000 - $170,000 per year. You will also be entitled to receive equity and benefits. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, and skillset. This role requires active work authorization in the US.At Maven we believe that a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences enrich our teams and allow us to achieve above and beyond our goals. If you do not have experience in all of the areas detailed above, we hope that you will share your unique background with us in your application and how it can be additive to our teams.
