OfferUp: Software Development Engineer II Full Stack - Business (Remote @ Colombia)
Company: Location: Remote Published: 2026-08-26
Headquarters: Remote @ Colombia
About the role:
The OfferUp Business team owns the platforms that power every business vertical on our marketplace; Storefronts, Auto Dealers, Services, Rentals, and Jobs. Our customers aren't casually browsing; they're running businesses on top of what we build, so every feature we ship has a direct, measurable impact on their livelihood and on OfferUp's revenue. We operate the full stack end-to-end: including microservices that handle some of the highest RPS and TPS in the company, and integrations with partners like Stripe and Shopify. We move fast, instrument everything, and treat experimentation as a first-class part of the workflow. We've barely scratched the surface of what these verticals can become, and the roadmap is wide open for someone who wants to help shape it.
At many organizations, your role begins and ends with the code. On our team, we’re different. You own a feature from concept to fruition. Your responsibilities will include everything from writing well architected and thoroughly tested code, to rolling out the feature by analyzing metrics. You also get to take ownership beyond your technical area by working with cross-functional team members.
As a Full Stack Software Engineer II on the Business team, you'll be a proven contributor who ships features end-to-end across the stack. From the React components our business customers interact with, to the Java services and data pipelines behind them. You'll take real ownership of the work you deliver, raise the quality of the code around you, and grow into a high-performing, reliable contributor on the team.
Here’s more of what you will get to do:
Design, build, and deploy new user experiences and backend services across our five business verticals, using React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Node.js, and Java
Own features end-to-end: plan, design, develop, deploy, measure, and iterate
Break down complex engineering problems into achievable tasks and deliver them within committed timeframes
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Data, Business stakeholders) to design and implement new features
Contribute to A/B tests and use experimentation results to decide what ships
Actively participate in code reviews and enforce good patterns, testing, and edge-case handling
Coach and mentor junior team members, new hires, and interns
Create shared components, utilities, and services that improve team velocity across the stack
Maintain and improve the runbooks, alerting, and monitoring for the features you ship
Participate in a reasonable on-call rotation with the rest of the team
Use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, and similar) to increase your daily development velocity and code quality
Become a subject matter expert in one or more of the team's sub-domains
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
2+ years of professional software engineering experience
Demonstrated ability to own the delivery of multiple features end-to-end (plan, design, develop, and deploy) with high efficiency, including breaking down engineering problems into achievable tasks
Strong coding skills across the full stack:
React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern web tooling; good grasp of responsive design, performance, and cross-browser compatibility
Java and a working understanding of microservices and distributed-systems fundamentals
Experience building and integrating with REST or GraphQL APIs
Good knowledge of data structures and object-oriented design
Hands-on experience using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) in a real engineering workflow, and a point of view on when they help and when they don't
Follows good coding patterns, writes appropriate tests, considers trade-offs, and actively seeks out edge cases
Comfortable giving and receiving feedback in code reviews
A bias toward shipping, learning from production, and iterating quickly
An insatiable desire and ability to learn
BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
Helpful, but not required:
Fluency in any other modern OOO programming language
Experience with Agile development
Experience with AWS Cloud infrastructure
Experience around any of the following: web package managers, Bower, bundler system, NodeJS, Python, webpack
Experience with A/B testing platforms (Statsig, LaunchDarkly, Optimizely) and analytics warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake)
Experience consuming or integrating LLM-based APIs (e.g., Bedrock, Vertex AI, OpenAI)
Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines

OfferUp: Senior Cloud Engineer (Hybrid @ Bellevue, WA or Remote @ Florida)
Company: Location: Remote Published: 2026-08-26
Headquarters: Bellevue, WA or Remote Florida
Team Charter:
The Cloud Engineering team is dedicated to maintaining and evolving cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, Application Security, Change Management, and Backend application golden templates. We are the backbone of the technical organization, ensuring the foundation of our services is robust, secure, and efficient.
About the role:
We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud Engineering team. This team is tasked with ensuring scalability, reliability, and security for all backend services and keeping the SDLC running smoothly for engineers across the company.
As a senior member of the team, you will own meaningful pieces of our cloud platform end-to-end — from design through deployment and operation — while helping shape the standards, tooling, and golden templates that the rest of the engineering organization builds on. You will balance deep, hands-on technical ownership with mentoring teammates and influencing the technical direction of the systems that power a large-scale mobile marketplace.
What we love about this role:
Scale & Impact: You will work on systems that drive the end-user experience and support every technical team across the organization, operating across a multi-account AWS and GCP footprint.
Ownership: You will own critical infrastructure and platform capabilities end-to-end, making architectural decisions that affect reliability, security, and cost at scale.
Force Multiplier: The templates, pipelines, and tooling you build raise the productivity and safety of every engineer at OfferUp.
Emerging Technology: You will help bring new capabilities — including AI/ML developer tooling and infrastructure — into the hands of our engineers.
In this role, you will design, build, and operate the cloud infrastructure, platform tooling, and CI/CD systems that underpin OfferUp's core applications. Day to day, that means you will:
Build cloud infrastructure as code — design, implement, and maintain AWS and GCP infrastructure with Terraform, optimizing for reliability, security, and cost.
Own our Kubernetes & GitOps platform — run and evolve EKS/GKE (cluster upgrades, Envoy/Gloo networking, Helm, ArgoCD delivery).
Keep the SDLC fast and safe — build CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows (GitHub Actions, monorepo tooling, JFrog Artifactory), and maintain the backend “golden templates” and shared libraries the wider org builds on.
Lead platform migrations end-to-end — plan, execute, and de-risk observability, data-store, Kubernetes, and multi-account migrations, including rollback strategy.
Drive operational excellence & security — own observability in Datadog and on-call, remediate CVEs, manage secrets and access controls (Cloudflare/ZTNA, Okta, SSO, Workload Identity Federation), and optimize cloud cost.
Multiply the team — enable AI/ML developer tooling (Amazon Bedrock, Claude, AI-assisted workflows), lead design and code reviews, set technical standards, mentor engineers, and partner with other teams.
You'll thrive in this role if you have:
Experience & Education: 5–8 years in cloud engineering, infrastructure, platform, DevOps, or SRE roles; Bachelor's in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Cloud & Infrastructure as Code: Deep, hands-on AWS (ideally GCP) — EKS/GKE, Lambda, networking, IAM, S3, Kinesis, OpenSearch, Route53 — managed declaratively with Terraform at scale.
Containers & Delivery: Solid experience with Kubernetes (EKS/GKE), Helm, GitOps (ArgoCD), and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar) in a monorepo or multi-service environment.
Observability & Operations: Modern observability tooling (Datadog or similar) for metrics, logs, traces, and alerting; supporting production systems, on-call, and debugging complex distributed systems.
Coding: Proficiency in at least one of Java, TypeScript, Python, or Go for automation, tooling, and platform development; comfort with scripting and SQL.
Communication & Leadership: Able to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, lead through influence, and mentor other engineers.
Helpful, but not required:
Experience with edge and zero-trust networking (Cloudflare, Envoy/Gloo).
Experience operating data and streaming infrastructure (Kinesis, Flink, Redis/Valkey, Confluent/Kafka).
Experience enabling AI/ML infrastructure or developer tooling (Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, or LLM-based developer workflows).
Experience with security and compliance practices, change management, and incident management at scale.
