Customer.io: Global Controller
Company: Location: Remote Published: 2026-10-17
Headquarters: Americas Remote
About Customer.io
Over 9,000 companies — from scrappy startups to global brands — use our platform to send billions of emails, push notifications, in-app messages, and SMS every day. Customer.io powers automated communication that people actually want to receive. We help teams send smarter, more relevant messages using real-time behavioral data.
About the role
Hi, my name is Diep N, VP, Finance at Customer.io, and I'm looking for a Global Controller to take the close, the books, and our control environment and make them theirs.
We're a global, remote-first, private company built on subscription and usage-based revenue, and as we grow we need a controller who can lead the team already in place and sharpen the fundamentals. You'll lead a team of ~7, growing, across revenue accounting, close, AP/AR, payroll, and treasury, and partner closely with me and, given our CFO's broad remit, with stakeholders across Sales, Legal, IT, HR, and Engineering.
What you'll do
Lead monthly and quarterly close, GL, AP/AR, payroll, and account reconciliations, delivering accurate, timely US GAAP financials. Close currently runs ~10 business days; get us to 6-8 days within your first 12 months, with fewer post-close adjustments and aged reconciliations.
Own revenue accounting and serve as our technical accounting authority on subscription and usage-based revenue recognition (ASC 606), including the ARR-to-GAAP bridge: reconciling ARR, billings, deferred revenue, contract assets, and usage true-ups to reported revenue, and explaining the delta to leadership and the board in plain terms.
Author technical accounting position memos on contract modifications, SSP allocation, variable consideration, and capitalized contract costs, the work that makes "technical accounting authority" real.
Own equity compensation accounting (ASC 718): grant accuracy, 409A timing, expense, modifications, and cap-table integrity, in partnership with stock plan administration.
Manage and grow a team of ~7, with room to scale, building trust quickly and developing the leads beneath you.
Build a control framework suited to a global, remote-first, private company with subscription and usage-based revenue, keeping the books audit-ready.
Own our accounting systems roadmap and drive automation across close and reporting.
Own select treasury operations, including cash management and banking relationships, and partner on FX exposure monitoring given our multi-currency footprint.
Run our external audit relationship and coordinate with external tax partners on compliance, provisions, and filings.
Manage the realities of a distributed, remote-first global team: statutory accounting coordination, payroll and contractor controls, entity reporting, and working with Legal, HR, and Tax on international compliance.
What we're looking for
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leading a team through managers or leads.
A Big 4 (or equivalent top-tier public accounting) foundation.
Deep US GAAP mastery, particular strength in subscription and usage-based revenue recognition (ASC 606).
A concrete, personally-owned automation or AI deployment in accounting with a measurable result, eliminating a manual reconciliation, reducing close time, or lowering error rate, that you can speak to in detail.
Experience scaling an accounting function that was already running, not building one from zero.
A proven track record with external audits and keeping books audit-ready.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with credibility partnering with senior, cross-functional stakeholders.
Nice to have: internal controls or SOX-readiness experience; remote-first/globally distributed company experience; M&A or deal accounting exposure; CPA license, active or inactive.
Compensation & Benefits
We believe in transparency. Starting salary for this role ranges from $250k to $280k USD (or equivalent in local currency), structured by geographic zone and depending on experience. In addition to base salary, this role includes an equity grant in the form of stock options, so you share in the success you help build.
Our inclusive benefits package supports your well-being and growth, including 100% coverage of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and supplemental insurance premiums for you and your family. We also offer 16 weeks paid parental leave, unlimited PTO, stipends for remote work and wellness, a professional development budget, and more.

Our Process
No gotchas, no trick questions - just a clear, human process designed to help both of us make an informed decision.
30-minute recruiter screen
45-minute hiring manager screen
Two 30-minute cross-functional chats: one with a Legal partner, one with a People partner
60-minute case review call
30-minute bar raiser call with our CFO
All final candidates will be asked to complete a background check and employment verifications as part of our pre-employment process.
Customer.io recognizes the stifling impact of systemic injustice on diverse communities. We commit to using our influence to increase inclusion and equity within the tech industry. We strive to build an inclusive team culture, implement bias-free hiring practices, and develop community partnerships to expand our global impact.
Zoom is the only video conference platform that we use, virtual interviews will be conducted using the video capability (i.e., not via the chat), and offers will be extended in writing on official Customer.io letterhead. Please be vigilant in all of your job search activity, and if you have any questions please contact jobs@customer.io.

We turn product usage into measurable business outcomes, working across onboarding, adoption, and renewal to make sure customers see the value they signed up for.
About the Role
The right candidate is a relationship-first advisor who connects a customer's Mixpanel investment to real outcomes for a defined book of accounts. You'll build trusted relationships with business and technical stakeholders, partner closely with your Account Executive and renewal counterparts, and bring a growing point of view on how customers should think about AI in their product workflows. This role suits someone who can own a project end to end and is ready to start extending their influence beyond their own accounts to the wider team.
Responsibilities
Own the value plan for each account in your portfolio, connecting the business problem that led the customer to buy Mixpanel with the outcomes they measure.
Build relationships with business and technical stakeholders, aligning Mixpanel's capabilities to what customers care about most.
Run discovery on customer priorities and pain points, and turn what you learn into concrete adoption plans and internal updates.
Partner with your Account Executive on expansion and your renewal counterpart on renewal execution, bringing the value case and adoption evidence that supports both.
Lead enablement/best practices sessions on dashboard design, funnel analysis, and retention modeling to grow how deeply and widely a customer uses Mixpanel.
Monitor usage and health signals and lead business reviews that surface what's working, deepen adoption, and catch risk early.
Spot underused features and contracted capabilities, and turn them into clear recommendations for the customer.
Triage product questions and issues, solving what you can and routing the rest to the right team.
Build a working point of view on a customer's AI maturity, and use Mixpanel's own AI surface to help them build on their product data.
Coordinate with GTM, Product, and Engineering on escalations, and share what works with the broader Customer Value Architects team.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
4 - 6 years of experience in customer success, consulting, or a related field supporting B2B SaaS accounts, or equivalent experience.
A track record of managing relationships across a range of stakeholders, from business partners to technical teams.

Experience turning product usage into a clear story about customer outcomes and ROI.
Comfort building and running adoption plans that tie daily work to a customer's larger goals.

Good judgment for prioritizing which accounts and actions need attention first.
Bonus Points For

If you're ready to make an impact and grow your career, Legion is where you belong. Join us in making hourly work rewarding and fulfilling.
BACKGROUND AND OPPORTUNITY
There are almost 75 million hourly workers in the United States, representing more than half of the entire workforce. Historically, managing hourly employees has been difficult due to high attrition (average of 60%) and high replacement costs (average of $3,200 per employee in retail). The ongoing labor shortage and competition from the gig economy, make it more difficult to attract and retain hourly employees. The top reasons hourly employees leave their jobs are a lack of schedule empowerment, poor communication with employers, and an inability to get paid early. Gen Z and the millennial workforce demand gig-like flexibility, modern technology, and compelling work options. Legion’s mission is to turn hourly jobs into good jobs, serving the hourly workers who make up the majority of the US workforce. We believe in empowering employees and helping employers be efficient and innovative by enabling intelligent automation powered by Legion’s Workforce Management platform to optimize labor efficiency and enhance the employee experience simultaneously. Legion WFM was built for the cloud with AI at the core and designed to handle the complexity of modern businesses and meet the needs of today’s hourly employees. Our team is comprised of dedicated individuals from all backgrounds and experiences, globally distributed across all time zones.

Expel: Senior Detection & Response Engineer
Company: Location: Remote Published: 2026-10-17
Headquarters: Remote
You're the detection engineer people turn to when they ask "what does Microsoft actually see here?" Not the marketing-slide answer, the real map. Which product emits which telemetry, any anticipated ingestion lags, what table or API it lands in, which license tier gates it, how long it survives before it ages out, and where the documentation quietly disagrees with reality. When a new technique drops, your first instinct is to ask which Microsoft signal would catch it, and whether customers have it switched on.
You also know Microsoft never sits still. Hunting tables appear, columns get renamed, Graph versions retire, capability shuffles between SKUs, previews go GA, features quietly vanish, and native alert logic shifts underneath you. You've got a repeatable way of staying ahead of that churn instead of finding out when a detection stops firing. You're comfortable behind a command line and in front of a customer, including scenarios where the conversation isn’t pleasant. If that's you, we'd love to talk! We have an amazing team and believe you'll love getting to know us.
At Expel, we help businesses bridge the cybersecurity talent gap by providing transparent Managed Detection and Response. To do this we build technology to make sure our security analysts are solving important problems, and automation is helping them make better decisions at every step. We delight in using technology to make security accessible for our customers.
What Expel can do for you
Make you one of our recognized authorities on Microsoft detection and response — for our SOC, our engineers, our go-to-market teams, and our customers
Give you real ownership of Expel's detection coverage across the whole Microsoft security estate
Put Microsoft telemetry from across our customer base in front of you — a breadth of real-world environments no single enterprise gets to see
Let you write and tune detections in our own rule engine and watch them run against live signal
Treat AI tooling (Claude Code and friends) as a first-class part of how you work, not a side experiment
Enable you to learn from analysts, data scientists, engineers, and responders responsible for various components of Expel's product and services
Provide access to popular EDR, network, SIEM, identity, and cloud technologies well beyond the Microsoft stack
Challenge you to push the boundaries of our security vision
What you can do for Expel
Own our detection coverage across Defender XDR, Entra ID, Sentinel, Microsoft Graph, Azure, and Microsoft 365 — from raw signal through to shipped, tuned detections
Build and maintain a living map of Microsoft security signal: what exists, known ingestion lag, where it lands, what gates it, how long it's kept, and how far you can trust it
Track how that signal changes and turn every material change into a concrete action — catching drift before it costs us efficacy
Tell us where Microsoft's native detections are strong enough to lean on, where they're noisy or shallow, and where Expel needs its own layer
Make SOC analysts faster by automating Microsoft-specific investigative workflows against the Graph, Defender, Sentinel, and Entra APIs
Partner with Engineering on our Microsoft integrations — ingestion, API limits and throttling, and schema mapping
Answer the hard questions from the SOC, CS, and Sales — and mentor the people asking them
Help customers understand what they're actually covered for, what they're missing, and what turning it on would buy them
What you should bring with you
Deep, current, hands-on knowledge of the Microsoft security stack — Defender XDR (Endpoint, Identity, Office 365, Cloud Apps), Entra ID, Sentinel, Microsoft Graph, and the Azure and Microsoft 365 control and data planes
Fluency in KQL: you can write, read, optimize, and debug non-trivial hunting queries across both Defender Advanced Hunting and Sentinel, and you know how and why the two schemas differ
Working knowledge of the Graph and Graph Security APIs, the Defender and Sentinel APIs, and their authentication, permission, versioning, and throttling models
A strong grasp of the Entra ID (and legacy Active Directory) identity attack surface — authentication flows, conditional access, OAuth application consent, token theft and replay, hybrid identity and sync, privileged role abuse — and the telemetry each produces
Solid understanding of Windows internals and command line tooling, with enough macOS and Linux to keep up with Defender's cross-platform coverage
Experience writing, deploying, and tuning custom detections against Microsoft data sets, plus enough non-Microsoft exposure (AWS, GCP, other EDR and SIEM) to keep perspective
Proficiency with Python and Sigma, and real fluency using Anthropic tools such as Claude Code to work across systems and data (locally, via MCP, and so on)
5+ years in information technology or security operations, with substantial time spent defending or operating Microsoft environments
Excellent tact and diplomacy skills — you can explain Microsoft's limits to an audience that doesn't want to hear about them
SC-200, AZ-500, or SC-300 are a plus; demonstrated depth matters considerably more
Work Location
Our headquarters is in Herndon, Virginia. However, we realize that while there is a benefit to in-person interaction, good people don’t all live in Northern Virginia. Remote work is an option for this role.
Additional Notes
The base salary range for this role is between $142,900 USD and $207,200 USD + bonus eligibility and equity. While the full salary band reflects our long-term compensation framework, we're primarily targeting candidates between $160,000 and $192,000 based on experience, skills, and market data.
We believe in paying transparently and equitably. Your salary will ultimately be based on factors such as your experience, skills, team equity, and market data. You’ll also be eligible for unlimited PTO (which we model and encourage), work location flexibility, up to 24 weeks of parental leave, and really excellent health benefits.
We’re only hiring those authorized to work in the United States. We do not currently sponsor immigration visas.
We’re an Equal Opportunity Employer: You’ll receive consideration for employment without regard to race, sex, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or on the basis of disability.
We’ll ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please let us know if you need accommodation of any kind.

Expel: Senior Account Executive - NY
Company: Location: Remote Published: 2026-10-17
Headquarters: Remote
At Expel, we believe if we look after our employees, they will take care of our customers, and the rest will work itself out. It’s as simple as that. We have built a great place to work where our atmosphere is truly transparent, people love what they do, and work gets appreciated. Now we’re scaling a sales culture that is also transparent and customer focused. A place where our customers rave about their sales team. Where they speak of trust, openness, respect and honesty. We want our customers to not only love our product but feel good about how they get treated during every interaction with us.
You ask questions to understand problems and you enjoy being a true partner to tackle them. Your customers walk with you because they know you only sell products you believe in, products you stand behind, aspirin for the headache they actually have. We know that no matter how good a product is, someone has to guide the sales process – and you excel at this.
You haven’t sold just any product, you’ve sold information security products. It’s a tangled, messy market with confusing, overlapping messages and frequently unclear value propositions. We are excited to discuss the product and hope that you share in a genuine opportunity to offer Expel to the world.
Did you nod your head a few times while reading this? If so, we'd love to hear from you. You're our kind of seller.
What Expel can do for you
We provide an opportunity to solve real business security problems
We let you tap into a market space ripe for success with our offerings
We connect you with cloud first companies who truly want to get better at information security and are eager to share their points of view.
We offer you people and a company who want to deliver an outstanding solution, and to reach the right customers we need to be phenomenal at sales. We're all in it together.
We'll give you experience in a startup environment with a team who truly cares about doing meaningful work.
We provide a simple compensation plan that pays you well for closing deals and includes a strong accelerator when you overachieve.
What you can do for Expel
Understand what Expel does and approach how it maps to your customers' business problems with a consultative mindset.
Introduce Expel to the customers who believe in you and tell them what we do. Find where we fit from a cloud perspective and bring them onboard so we can help them together.
Talk to new prospective customers. Begin to build your personal relationship with them as you tell them about Expel. If Expel fits, change them from prospects into customers.
Qualify prospects based on their interest level in Expel’s cloud solutions and their ability to purchase by virtue of the buyer’s budget, authority, need, and timeline.
Tell us what you learn as you explore the market. Help us understand where Expel fits, what we are missing, and how can we be better and ultimately, get to “yes” before “no”.
What you should bring with you
A real passion for Sales Done Right - meaning consultative, customer-focused and based in transparency, honesty and integrity.
An understanding of information security -- technologies, products and services; specifically cloud first security minded organizations.
Experience working in a fast-growing, “scale up” environment.
Comfortable working remotely, and asynchronously (you will be based out of your home office and will need strong prioritization/time management habits)
Lots of creativity, passion and problem solving towards helping customers.
An ability to talk to both business and technical buyers about what you’re selling - you don’t have to be an engineer, but you do need to understand what you sell.
A Bachelor’s degree or a compelling story.
3+ years of professional experience, with at least 1 in information security sales.
Additional notes
We're looking to hire in set territories across the United States. This roles territory being New York.
The targeted compensation range for this role is between: $100,000 USD & $110,000 USD base, $200,000 & $220,000 OTE + equity.
We believe in paying transparently and equitably. Your salary will ultimately be based on factors such as your experience, skills, team equity, and market data.
